Boko Haram: Borno to Pay Parents to Send Children to School

Borno State government said on Monday it will start paying parents in the state who enrol their children to school to acquire western education. It also said that all the schools burnt down by Boko Haram terrorists will be renovated, because the increasing case of poverty orchestrated by lack of access to education is what led to the insecurity in the state. Governor Kashim Shettima disclosed this when he met with elders and residents of Bama-GRA communities to interact with them and find out issues needed to be addressed in their communities by the government. He said: "I want to appealed to the people of this community and Borno in general, because there has been a decline in the mode of service to mankind by previous administrations which led to the neglect of providing dividends of democracy to the people, but I want to assure you that we will inculcate the culture of good governance and commitment to the socio-economic development of the state. "We will strictly adhere to development oriented-politics, because I believed that once you work for your people, I don't think on election day you have to carry money with thugs to win election, but your legacy will work for you.”
